What does the Comma app add to monday.com?

A Comma tab on any board item. Attach a PDF or HTML document to the item, send one review link to people who have no monday seat, and the approval or change request is posted back onto the item as an update.

Who has to connect the account, and how often?

A monday admin connects once per monday account. Everyone in the account then works through that connection — there is nothing for individual members to set up.

Do reviewers need a monday seat or a Comma account?

No. The review link opens for anyone. They comment on the document itself without signing up.

Can Comma review PDFs, not just HTML?

Yes. Every page is rendered and pdf.js's text layer is rebuilt over it, so reviewers can highlight the exact sentence rather than leaving a comment about page 4.

What happens to my documents if I uninstall the app?

The link between your monday account and your Comma account is deleted immediately. Your documents stay — they belong to your Comma account, not to the integration.

Comma for monday.com

Your team generates documents in monday — proposals, invoices, reports, statements of work. Then they leave. The file goes to a client or an executive, the feedback comes back as an email thread or a marked-up PDF, and someone retypes it into the item by hand.

The Comma app closes that loop. Attach a document to a board item, send one review link to anyone, and the sign-off comes back onto the item.

Install

Open the installation link: https://auth.monday.com/oauth2/authorize?client_id=187c87f619d05bdcc24de476c87c3794&response_type=install
Choose the monday account to install into and approve the permissions.
monday will confirm the app is installed on your account.

The app requests four scopes and nothing more: me:read to know who is looking, boards:read and assets:read to find the document already attached to the item, and updates:write to post the verdict back. It asks for no write access to your boards or columns.

Add the Comma tab to a board

Installing makes the view available; you add it per board.

Open any item so the item panel appears.
On the tab strip — Updates / Files / Activity Log — click +.
Choose Explore more views, then Installed Apps, then Comma.
The tab is added. Rename it if you like.

Connect your Comma workspace

The first time you open the Comma tab you'll see Connect Comma.

A monday admin has to do this, once per monday account. Click it, sign in to Comma in the window that opens, and it closes itself. Everyone else in the account is then ready — there's nothing for individual members to set up.

The connection is deliberately account-wide: one monday account maps to one Comma user, and the panel reads through that user's permissions. It's the same trust level as a file attached to a monday item. Only a monday admin can create or change it.

Send a document for review

Open the Comma tab on an item.

If a document is already on the item — a PDF or HTML file in a files column, or a link column pointing at a page — Comma finds it. One readable file is imported automatically; several are listed so you can pick.

Otherwise, paste a Comma link and press Attach.

Either way the panel then shows the document's review state and gives you Copy review link. Send that link to whoever needs to sign off. They don't need a monday seat or a Comma account.

PDFs

PDFs are rebuilt rather than embedded. Each page is rendered at 2× and pdf.js's text layer is laid over it, so the document looks exactly like the PDF and reviewers can highlight the specific sentence they're questioning. Comments anchor to that text, the way they would on a web page.

Documents up to 15 MB and the first 30 pages are imported; longer files render what fits and say so.

What comes back

The panel shows open and resolved comment counts and the current verdict:

Awaiting review — nobody has given a verdict yet.
Approved by … — every named reviewer signed off.
Changes requested by … — at least one reviewer wants edits.

When a verdict lands, Comma posts it onto the monday item as an update, so the people who never leave monday see the decision without going to look for it.

Edit the document after sign-off and the old verdict is marked stale rather than quietly counting as approval — the panel says so, and the update history keeps the original.

Uninstalling

Removing the app deletes the link between your monday account and your Comma account immediately, through monday's uninstall webhook.

Your documents are not deleted. They belong to your Comma account, they were stored against your plan, and they usually outlive the board they were reviewed against. Uninstalling an integration isn't a request to destroy documents — if you want them gone, delete them in Comma.

Troubleshooting

The Comma tab shows "This view runs inside a monday.com item." The view was opened outside monday. Open it from an item's tab strip.

"Connect Comma" keeps appearing. The account isn't linked yet, or a non-admin tried to link it. A monday admin has to complete the connection.

Nothing is found on the item. Comma reads PDF and HTML files. A .docx or .xlsx is listed as not reviewable. Either export HTML or PDF from your document generator, or point a link column at the document.

"That doc is no longer reachable." The attached Comma document was deleted or its sharing was changed. Attach a different link.
